If you need a flexible hose for a machine or vehicle that’s broken down, you have many options. You could use a rubber hose – those tend to be easier to work with. Rubber can wear out over time though and has lower resistance to bursting and flames. It’s also not suitable for carrying certain chemicals. Your best bet is to use a flexible stainless-steel hose. They have many advantages, can be used in many different industries, and come in a few different sizes.

They withstand pressure easily – Flex stainless steel hoses have different designs; each has a different use. If you choose the right design, the hose will withstand the pressure of the gas or liquid going through it.

They don’t decompose after coming in contact with other chemicals – Other types of hoses, such as rubber hoses, start decomposing when they come in contact with chemicals. That means they’re only good for simple uses. Flex hoses, on the other hand, resist decomposing. This makes them perfect to use for chemicals.
They’re lighter, efficient and affordable – Flex stainless steel hoses are lighter than other hoses. They’re also easier to use and resist cracks, whether they’re in use or have to be stored for a long period of time. Because they’re transparent, it’s easy to detect an airlock or tell when there’s a blockage.

What are the different stainless-steel flex hose types, and how are they used?

Stainless steel single braided hoses resist bursting, and some are resistant to flames. They are used as expansion joints, for fuel cells, gas turbines, coolants, steam, bleach, and cryogenics. High pressure braided hoses are double-braided to withstand very high pressure.

Corrugated unbraided hoses resist failure even when they’re accidentally exposed to flame. They’re used to transfer liquid and gas at temperatures up to 1500F.

Duct hoses – These are lightweight and can be bent by hand. They’re good for harsh chemical fumes and high temperatures. They’re good for times when very high-temperature air flow and fume removal is needed. This makes them good for kilns, hot exhaust systems, flame resistant systems, and HVAC and vehicle exhaust systems.

What is a standard hose size?

Flex hoses can be 3/8-inch, 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch. The larger the diameter, the more liquid or gas can be delivered.

How are they used in different industries?

In the electrical industry, they’re used to protect cables or light conductors. In the automotive industry, they’re used as exhaust hoses in cars and trucks.
They’re used as ventilation hoses in buildings. They’re also used in aviation, reactor technology, and for producing alternative energy.
