Cryogenic Hoses
Aero-Flex Corporation offers a variety of cryogenic hoses for transferring liquid cryogens, including liquid nitrogen, liquid argon, and liquid oxygen. These simple non-jacketed hose assemblies serve as an excellent choice for transferring cryogenic liquids or gases from portable cryogenic storage cylinders. Aero-Flex Corporation constructs cryogenic transfer hoses with a stainless steel corrugated core as well as either one or two layers of stainless steel braid. This all-stainless steel construction allows the hose to handle temperatures below -300°F, so that its suitable for transferring Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen, and Liquid Argon.
For ultra-cold liquids like liquid Hydrogen and liquid Helium for example, you need vacuum jacketed hoses because of the extreme cold temperatures. Vacuum jacketed hoses have an inner hose and an outer hose with a vacuum layer in between. This design offers significant insulation and protects the liquid from ambient air, which would otherwise turn the liquid into a gas, resulting in a loss for the customer. What Are The Different Types Of Cryogenic Hoses?
Liquid Oxygen (LOX)
- Available In Sizes 1/4″ – 2″
- Fitting Type: NPT, FNPT, 37° Flare
- Any Length Available
- With Or Without Armor Guard
- Non-Jacketed
- Ask About CGA 440 Adapters
Liquid Nitrogen (LN2)
Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) cryogenic hoses, on the other hand, are used in a range of applications, from food preservation to superconductor cooling. Particularly in the food industry, LN2 is used for quick freezing, which helps to preserve the food’s quality, taste, and texture by minimizing ice crystal formation. Comparatively, In laboratories and medical settings, LN2 is used for cryopreservation of biological samples, such as sperm and egg cells, and for cryosurgery.

What is Armor Guard And Do I Need It On My Cryogenic Hose?
Manufacturers typically make armor guard for cryogenic transfer hoses from stainless steel. They construct it using a stripwound heavy-duty metal casing applied over the hose’s exterior to protect against severe handling abuse, crushing, or overbending. Armor guard also helps prevent punctures through the braid and into the hose core, reducing the likelihood of a leak. Please ask us about adding armor guard to your cryogenic transfer hose assembly.

Need A Vacuum Jacketed Cryogenic Hose?
Discover the high quality of Aero-Flex Corp’s vacuum jacketed cryogenic hoses. Vacuum jacketed hoses for extremely cold cryogenic liquids such as liquid hydrogen and liquid helium, which have temperatures of -423°F and -452°F, respectively. Specifically, the vacuum jacketing insulates the hose from the outside air. This insulation results from two layers of hose (Inner & Outer) with a vacuum layer in between. This design prevents the extremely cold cryogenic liquid from warming up and converting into gas, which would create a loss for the customer. Therefore, when working with liquid Hydrogen and liquid Helium in cryogenic applications, vacuum jacketed hoses and piping are essential.
